Sam Harrison
(1942 - 2005)
We have set this site up in memory of our Dad Sam, so that we could share stories about Sam and remember the fantastic man that he was.
Dad was born in London in 1942 to Colin and Grace. He grew up in the heart of the East End and always had that “cheeky chappie” approach to life where even from an early age, everything was possible. His sisters tell of the scrapes he got into – and got out of with a flash of his trademark grin.
At eighteen, he joined the RAF which he loved, travelling all over the world and developing his shaggy dog stories (you know the ones I mean!) He met our mum, Brigitte, when stationed in Germany - and I’m sure everyone has heard THAT story a few times over. Shortly after, he left the forces and brought her home to London. Three daughters and a new life in Bath followed but everywhere he went, Dad attracted people to him with his smiling approach to life, his passion for his family and his love of the outdoors.
Dad, you brought a special shine to every new day. You made even the smallest things, big; the dullest things, exciting; the hardest things, easy. We wish your grandchildren could have the chance to get to know you better but I hope that in the stories they will come to know you as the best grand-dad in the world.
