Helpful resources

Some people find that one of the best ways to help come to terms with feelings of loss is to talk about them to other people. You may want to talk to a friend or family member, or someone who has been in a similar position. You may consider joining a bereavement support group at your local hospice, or talk to a nurse or social worker about finding help and support. There are a number of other avenues of support you can also access:

Professional Counselling
You may consider professional counselling of some sort. Seeing a counsellor allows you to talk through your feelings, and helps you feel more able to cope. There are a number of voluntary agencies and private practitioners that offer counselling. We suggest that if this is something you would like to consider, look for a counsellor who specialises in bereavement, and meet them before committing.

Your local hospice or GP may be able to help with finding a counsellor, or contact the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy on 0870 443 5252 or visit www.bacp.co.uk
