This is a legal document that sets out how
MissYou handles data that identifies you. You should read it in
conjunction with the MissYou
Terms and Conditions, of which this Privacy Policy forms part.
At MissYou, we believe
strongly in protecting the privacy of our users' personal information. This
statement describes the privacy practices we apply for the
MissYou Service. As part of that, it also expresses our approach to
complying with the data protection laws that apply in the United Kingdom. If we
change this Privacy Policy, we will notify you of the changed document in the
same way as we notify changes to the
MissYou Terms and Conditions.
If you have questions or concerns regarding this statement, you should contact
MissYou's customer service department.
1. The information we gather and track.
-
Information gathered on registration. When
you register for the MissYou
service, you provide your name, your address, your email address, and
information concerning to whom the memorial is for and who else is permitted to
contribute to that memorial. This is all available to you, and capable of being
changed, through the administration page.
-
Cookies. We use small files known as
"cookies" to enhance users' experience of the
MissYou Service as follows:
-
To hold Members' login information, so that your memorial is accessible whilst
you visit the MissYou
memorial. This information is ‘switched off’ when you finish the browser
session or “Log out.”
-
To facilitate optimal use of the MissYou
Service by Members, by means of a temporary "session" cookie. These cookies
disappear when the Member's browser session ends.
2. Sharing and use of information
-
The over-riding principles we apply are these:
-
We, and (where relevant) our credit card processing agents, will not supply
your personal data to a third party for commercial exploitation - thus, you can
rest assured that we will not sell the lists of our Members' email addresses to
a third party; and
-
the only circumstances in which we will provide any of your personal data to a
third party for non-commercial purposes are those contained in this Privacy
Policy.
-
Registration Information.
Once a Member creates a memorial, some or all of the Registration Information
held for that Member, except for the email address, will be available at the
memorial.
-
Email through the
MissYou Service. We do not directly make your email
address available to anyone on any screen of the
MissYou Service. The only legitimate way of making contact with a
memorial administrator found on the
MissYou
Service is via a ‘contact adminstrator’ message that we will send on the
contactor’s behalf. We will notify the addressee administrator, using the email
address he/she has provided to us, by forwarding the said message.
-
Credit Card information.
There has been a lot of publicity about Credit Card security on the Internet so
we decided to use Secure Trading, who operate a secure server, to process our
credit card payments. They encrypt Members' credit or debit card information
and authorise payment directly. This means that Members' credit card details
are never revealed to us. Secure Trading may transfer to, process and hold your
credit card information in countries either within or outside the European
Economic Area in connection with performing their duties.
-
Companies in the
MissYou group.
We may share data supplied by you (or collected about you) with Weston
Hospicecare Ltd, but only for the purposes described in this policy.
-
Changes in
MissYou's business. If all of the assets that
MissYou
uses to operate its business (or substantially all of them) are acquired by a
third party, we may transfer personal data we then hold to that party.
-
Place of processing. The personal
information held by us is held on and processed by computers situated in the
United Kingdom.
3. Security
MissYou is committed to
protecting the security of your data. We use a variety of security technologies
and procedures to help protect your personal information from unauthorised
access, use or disclosure. For example, we store the personal information you
provide in computers with restricted access that are located in controlled
facilities.
When we transmit sensitive information such as your credit card number and
address details over the Internet, we protect it through the use of 128-bit
encryption certificates and the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) protocol - the
industry-standard method for protecting web communications.
If you have questions regarding security or privacy on this site please get in
touch via email at info@missyou.org.uk.
We have security measures in place to protect our customer database and access
to this database is restricted internally. However, it remains each Member's
responsibility:
-
to protect against unauthorised access to Your Details;
-
to ensure against use by anyone else of the
MissYou Service through the machine that Member uses while they are
"logged on" to the MissYou
Service;
-
to log off or exit from the MissYou
Service when not using it; and
-
to keep his/her password secret.
4. Opt-out policy
You may have your registration details removed at any time. To remove yourself
please contact us and we will remove all Your Details.
5. Disclosure for legal reasons.
We reserve the right to communicate such of a Member's personal information as
we hold to third parties which seek the disclosure of it, and which make a
legally compliant request for its disclosure.
6. Data Retention Period.
We will retain your personal data only as long as is necessary for the purposes
to which you consent under the MissYou
Terms and Conditions and this Privacy Policy, or as is required by applicable
law, and then we will delete it.
7. Contacting MissYou.
If you have any questions about this privacy statement, the practices of this
site, or your dealings with MissYou,
you can contact us. You can also contact us if you wish to request from
MissYou a copy of the personal data we hold about you or a
description of that data. Please note that by English law we are entitled to
charge you a small sum for providing this information.

Our site contains links to other sites.
MissYou is not responsible for the privacy practices, or the
content, of those web sites.

Information Commissioner's website at www.dataprotection.gov.uk.
