Kattampalli Valsan

(1930 - 2006)

Mr Valsan was an extremely gentle, selfless, devout, loving and kind man whose entire life was dedicated to the service of others. He is greatly missed by his wife and daughter, and many other people who had the honour to work alongside him in the many voluntary service activities he took part in. He believed that serving other people was a form of worship to God. He lived his life according to the maxim of his teacher, Sathya Sai Baba: "Hands that help are holier than lips that pray." He died as he lived - helping others. He and his daughter, Bina, were running a half-term human values camp for children, in their own time, at a local school in Croydon, when Mr Valsan went on an errand and was knocked down by a motorbike. His absence is very painful, but his life was very precious and he used it to share love and spread happiness to other people all the time. Although he is greatly missed, we are very grateful for his life, and the gifts that he gave to others.
